from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The neck protection is part of the personal protective equipment of various professions and fields of activity.

Metallized neck protection

It can be made of various materials and is usually attached to a helmet , where it is supposed to protect the neck from flying sparks, splinters, dust and similar hazards. For better protection against strong heat radiation , the neck protection can also be metallized.

The neck protection is a required component of a fire helmet , as it is worn by all civil protection forces. But also forest workers wear neck protection on their helmets to protect their necks.

Another form of neck protection is the Dutch cloth, which is usually made of Nomex . This is intended to provide additional protection for the head of the fire brigade , but must be worn under breathing protection in conjunction with a flame protection hood when proceeding .

Neck protection was also common on military helmets, especially the Roman cassis .
