Lists on the subject

The Naga Dao (also called Sema Dao , Konyak Dao , Lhota Dao , Angana Dao , Garo Dao , Kuki Dao , Lushai Dao , Chin Dao , Kacha Dao , Ao Dao ) is a battle ax of the Naga tribes in the Philippines and in India . The diverse names are due to the large number of tribes and their different names for this Dao.

history

The Naga-Dao is a multi-purpose weapon and tool. It is used in field work, woodworking, slaughtering animals, in ceremonies and in war.

description

The Naga Dao has a short, curved blade with a straight (cut off) tip . The blade is about 23 cm long, about 8 cm wide and sharply ground on all blade sides. The handle (handle) is round or square and, in some versions, wrapped with metal wire. The end of the handle has no pommel and the rear area is more or less decorated with monochrome or colored goat hair and often painted with traditional patterns. There are different handle and blade versions of the Naga Dao.
