The Nagawado Dam ( Japanese 奈川 渡 ダ ム ~ damu ) is a dam in Matsumoto , Nagano Prefecture , Japan . It is located on the former municipal boundary between the villages of Azumi and Nagawa, which were incorporated into Matsumoto in 2005 .
The Azusa river (upper reaches of the Sai, which is part of the Shinano river system ) is dammed up by a 155 m high arch dam to form a reservoir with a capacity of 123 million cubic meters and an area of 2.74 square kilometers. A hydropower plant generates electricity with an output of 623 megawatts.
