Local freight train

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A local freight train (abbreviation N , later Ng for the former DB ) is or was referred to by the railways as a freight train which - in contrast to the through freight train - does not travel the same way along its entire route, but can be shortened or lengthened at the intermediate stations . In contrast to a transfer freight train, however, local freight trains drove from one hub to another, often between two marshalling yards . On the way, various groups of cars were dropped off and picked up at the subway stations .
