Local transport in Sinsheim

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Local public transport in Sinsheim includes a city bus network, which is supplemented by S-Bahn trains and on- call buses for night services . It belongs to the Rhein-Neckar transport association .

The central junction of the bus lines with each other and with the train is the Sinsheim main train station , located on the Elsenz Valley Railway .

Bus transport

Since the 1970s, the lines in Sinsheim were operated by SWEG and partly by BRN (lines 760, 764 and 772) and Hoffmann Reisen (lines 781 and 766).

The lines of the line bundle Sinsheim-Nord and Sinsheim-Süd operate in Sinsheim. The Sinsheim-Nord line bundle and the Sinsheim-South line from December 2011 have been operated by PalatinaBus since December 2010 . Some trips were made by Hoffmann Reisen from Waghäusel-Wiesental, the Steinsfurt bus company Hacker and Gfrerer Bustouristik from Waibstadt as subcontractors . To change the operator, the normal frequency in the evening has been extended so that the last departure from Sinsheim is shortly after 8 p.m. Monday to Friday instead of shortly after 7 p.m., and on Saturdays at around 3 p.m. instead of around 1 p.m. However, the last trip no longer goes back to Sinsheim.

There is also one trip - two trips on weekend nights - on the BRN line 755 (Neckargemünd line bundle) from Heidelberg or Neckargemünd to Sinsheim and back.

Since the RheinNeckar S-Bahn took over rail traffic , the service has been interrupted at noon. Before that, there was a train crossing of the regional trains in Sinsheim every hour on the hour, so that a good connection in all directions was possible at any time. The normal departure time from Sinsheim Hbf is now in the afternoon around 20 minutes, shortly after the arrival of the trains from Heidelberg; In the mornings, the buses arrive at the main train station at about 40 minutes, shortly before the S-Bahn departs for Heidelberg. Since a return trip on most lines takes just under the length of the basic cycle, the departure time in the morning and the arrival time in the afternoon are not suitable for the S-Bahn.

Due to construction work in the through-town of Waldangelloch, buses have only been able to travel to the northern edge of the town since summer 2018, which is why the Sunday timetable for line 763 had to be adjusted.

In January 2019 the BRN line 899 (line bundle Mosbach) from Sinsheim via Waibstadt, Helmstadt and Aglasterhausen to Mosbach-Neckarelz was added as part of the regional transport ministry's funding program “Regiobuslinien”.

In December 2018, the tendering for the two Sinsheim line bundles for the period from 15. December 2019 to 7. December 2029. The decision was made at the end of March, which, however, could not be announced until mid-June due to the state's outstanding funding commitments for the Regiobus line: The Sinsheim Nord line bundle will remain with Palatina, the Sinsheim South line bundle will be returned to the SWEG and it will come to this the new Regiobus line 799 from Sinsheim to Wiesloch-Walldorf was added. In addition, with the timetable change, line 762 receives the new stop "Gewerbegebiet" in rows, line 771 runs the other way around in the industrial area south, line 772 now has to be served by minibuses and line 795 has more trips from Waibstadt to Bad Rappenau. SWEG uses 24 buses in its line bundle, 11 of them new vehicles, Palatina receives 14 new vehicles.
