Nakore mosque

Nakore is a small town in the Upper West Region in Ghana , about six kilometers from the state capital Wa removed. It is best known for its old mosque , built in the West Sudanese construction style . Like the much better known, but somewhat smaller mosque of Larabanga , it was built from mud (i.e. clay) and sticks ( mud and stick ) and is well preserved. According to tradition, it was built in 1516, other sources date it to the 18th or 19th century.
