from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Nam Thuam (also Namthuam or Nam Tuam, Thai : น้ำ ท่วม ) was between 1322 and 1324 the ruler of Chiang Mai ( Lan Na ), today's northern Thailand .

Nam Thuam was the grandson of Mengrai and the son of King Chai Songkhram of Lan Na. He came to the throne with his father's approval after overthrowing his faithless brother Khruea from Mueang Nai, who in the absence of his father was taking Chiang Mai and wanted to make himself king. Nam Thuam remained on the throne of Lan Na from 1322 to 1324. But since his father began to distrust him, he sent him to Keng Tung (in today's Burma ) as governor .
