Nanophanerophyte

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Nanophanerophytes are a subgroup of phanerophytes , i.e. plants whose hibernating buds are above the level of the snow cover. In contrast to the macrophanerophytes, they do not protrude above the level of the surrounding vegetation and are therefore partially protected from the wind. This gives them a certain protection against frost drought .

The nanophanerophytes include woody shrubs and trees with a regular height between 0.5 m and 5 m.
