Spaghetti Naporitan

Naporitan or Napolitan (Japanese ナ ポ リ タ ン) is a Japanese noodle dish.

The dish consists of spaghetti fried with vegetables ( onions and peppers ), ham and ketchup .

There are different opinions about the origin of the name. Seiichi Takahashi, the fourth chef at Hotel New Grand, says Naporitan was developed by Shigeru Irie, the second chef at the same hotel in Yokohama. After the end of the Second World War , large quantities of ketchup and spaghetti came to Yokohama with the US soldiers, so the use of these ingredients was obvious.
