Euphorbia viguieri is a species of the genus spurge ( Euphorbia ) in the family of Euphorbiaceae (Euphorbiaceae).
description
The succulent Euphorbia viguieri usually grows unbranched with a single five- to six-sided trunk that is up to 1 meter high and 3 centimeters in diameter. The trunk is narrowed towards the base. The leaves that stand close together at the top of the trunk are egg-shaped and can be up to 10 centimeters long and 3 centimeters wide. The top is bright green and colored red at the base. White veins protrude from the underside and the leaves are almost sessile. After the leaves are shed, broad and elliptical stigmas remain. The stipule spines, which are up to 20 millimeters long, are rigid and divided, and reunite at the base.
The inflorescence consists of 4-forked cymes which are up to 4 centimeters long peduncles. The upright and bright red cyathophylls envelop the unisexual cyathia , which are up to 2.5 millimeters in diameter . The nectar glands are very small and the fruits are bare. The seed is covered with warts.
