Nari Ward

Nari Ward (* 1963 in St. Andrew ) is a Jamaican -American installation artist .

life and work

Nari Ward studied at Hunter College in New York until his bachelor's degree (1991) , and a year later he received his master's degree at Brooklyn College . Ward lived in Harlem in the early 1990s and befriended several renowned artists in his neighborhood, including David Hammons . Nari Ward is a professor at Hunter College

He draws on his seemingly inexhaustible collection of outdated household items - washing machines, stereos, ironing boards, strollers and bed springs - to transform a normally sober gallery space into a playground for the imagination.
