history
Saint Andrew was officially established as the first of the Parishs in 1867, the area previously known as Liguanea. Since 1932, Saint Andrew and neighboring Kingston have formed the administrative unit of Kingston and St Andrew Corporation .
geography
Saint Andrew is directly adjacent to Kingston to the south, Saint Catherine to the west, Saint Mary to the north and Portland to the northeast . The Blue Mountain range runs through the Parish. The few cities in the country are essentially suburbs of nearby Kingston, but western Saint Andrews is particularly densely populated.
economy
Large parts of the parish are used for agriculture, especially for growing coffee, mangos, cocoa, peas, beans, sugar cane and for raising cattle. In order to induce companies to settle in Saint Andrew, a 1.2 km² industrial area was designated. There are large deposits of gypsum around Bull Bay to the east.
