Lists on the subject

Nasr ( Persian نصر Sieg ) is an Iranian subsonic anti-ship missile that can be launched from ships and aircraft as well as from land.

development

The cruise missile is essentially a copy of the Chinese anti-ship missile C-704 , whose development work dates back to 2005. At that time, the missile was a purely land-based system designed for coastal defense. Because the Nasr missile had a relatively short range of less than 30 km, there were efforts to also launch the missile from aircraft. It was not until 2013 that images were published that showed the anti-ship missile on various aircraft, such as the Bell 206 , McDonnell F-4 and F-14A Tomcat .

On February 24, 2019, the Iranian military released video footage of a NASR anti- ship missile launch as part of the Velayet-97 maneuver. The footage shows that an surfaced Ghadir-class submarine launched the cruise missile. An object can be seen leaving one of the two torpedo tubes of the boat relatively slowly and accelerating as it approached the surface of the water. Then a rocket was seen piercing the surface of the water .

Versions

It is believed that two versions of the anti-ship missile exist:

  • Nasr-1 : basic version
  • Nasr-2 : Modernized version with the option to take off from aircraft.
