National Arena League

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The  National Arena League (NAL) is a  US arena football league  that was founded in 2017.

history

The founders of the Columbus Lions decided in 2016 to found their own league, the National Arena League. The reason for this are many different teams that withdrew from other arena football leagues. Teams from the Arena Football League (AFL) and American Indoor Football (AIF), which was dissolved in 2016, took part, as well as some newly established franchises.

The first game in league history was played by the Columbus Lions against the Jacksonville Sharks in front of 2,456 spectators. The Sharks won 56:41.

In the course of the season, some teams had to withdraw from play due to lack of funding. This affected the Corpus Christi Rage and the Dayton Wolfpack .

The first titleholders are the Jacksonville Sharks , who won the final 27:21 against the Columbus Lions .

mode

Originally, 15 game days were planned per team, but since two teams were eliminated during the season, a team could only play a maximum of 12 game days.

The first four teams in the table qualify for the playoffs, with the first in the table playing against the fourth and the second in the table against the third. The better placed team has home rights. The two winners then play the NAL Championship, the final of the league.
