The National Bank of the Republic of North Macedonia ( Macedonian : Народна банка на Република Северна Македонија, Romanized: Narodna Banka na Republika Severna Macedonia, NBRSM) is the central bank of North Macedonia . Its seat is in the capital of the country Skopje . Before the name change in 2019, the National Bank of the Republic of North Macedonia was known as the National Bank of the Republic of Macedonia.
Functions
The NBRNM performs the following functions:
- Establish and operate monetary policy;
- ensure liquidity in international payment transactions;
- to spend and direct the denarius;
- Manage foreign exchange reserves;
- regulate the payment system;
- Granting of establishment and operating permits for banks or savings banks as well as supervision of banks and savings banks;
- Issue licenses for money transfers in accordance with legal requirements;
- Issuing operating permits to exchange offices and monitoring their activities in accordance with the statutory provisions;
- Issuing of banknotes and coins;
- Representation of the country in international institutions;
- Carry out activities on behalf of the central government and government agencies.
