National Hangeul Museum
The National Hangeul Museum ( kor. 국립 한글 박물관 , Hanja 國立 한글 博物館 ) was founded in October 2014 in Seoul ( South Korea ) under the aegis of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. It is a museum dedicated to the Korean script Hangeul (also Hangul) in the immediate vicinity of the Korean National Museum in the Yongsan Family Park .
The museum collects, researches and disseminates materials and information related to the Hangeul script developed specifically for the Korean language in the 15th century under King Sejong . In addition to the permanent exhibition on the history, present and future of Hangeul, there are rooms for special exhibitions on calligraphy , the use and development of Hangeul in many areas of knowledge and practice. A “Children's Museum” has been set up for children aged 6 to 9. In the “Learning Center” foreigners can also familiarize themselves with this original, easily understandable writing system in a playful way.
There are seminar rooms and an auditorium for training purposes and events.
