National Magazine Award

The National Magazine Award is an American journalism award that has been presented annually since 1966 for outstanding contributions to magazine journalism .

The prize is awarded by the American Society of Magazine Editors (ASME) in cooperation with the School of Journalism at Columbia University , currently (2013) in 25 categories, in addition to word and photo journalism in the true sense, innovations in design and marketing are also recognized to award a literary prize with the fiction category reserved for short stories . In addition, each year a magazine is chosen as Magazine of the Year .

The prize is not endowed, the winners receive a reproduction of the sculpture "Ellie" designed by Alexander Calder as a trophy .
