The National Rifle Association of the United Kingdom (NRA) was founded in 1859 at Wimbledon as an organization for sport shooting and training on firearms in the United Kingdom . It is now the umbrella organization for shooting sports in Great Britain. It is not to be confused with the influential National Rifle Association in the United States .

history

The National Rifle Association , founded on November 16, 1859, received a Royal Charter from Queen Victoria in 1890 . In the same year, the National Shooting Center in Bisley, Surrey went into operation. The National Rifle Association of the United Kingdom in the UK is an umbrella organization of shooting sports as a non-profit organization recognized. In 2019, however, the Charity Commission for England and Wales accused the NRA of having violated non-profit requirements with its activities in the recreational sports sector.
