The National Urban League ( NUL for short ), originally called the National League on Urban Conditions Among Negroes , is an American civil rights movement . She campaigns for the rights of African Americans and against their discrimination in the USA. The organization is the oldest and largest of its kind and is based in New York City .

history

In September 1910, the Committee on Urban Conditions Among Negroes was formed in New York City. After merging with the Committee for the Improvement of Industrial Conditions Among Negroes, founded in 1906, and the National League for the Protection of Colored Women (founded 1905), the National League on Urban Conditions Among Negroes was finally created . The National Urban League was given its current name in 1920 and currently has more than 100 offices in 35 states and Washington, DC
