The National Library of Tajikistan is located in Dushanbe , the capital of the Central Asian state. Opened in 2012, the library is the largest of its kind in Central Asia .

building

In front of the building are several fountains and busts of famous heroes of local history, the entrance hall is decorated with large columns. The shape of the building is supposed to represent an open book. The national library has a total area of 45,000 square meters on nine floors, with space for 10 million books. Despite a call to the population to donate books, this number of books is by no means exhausted, so that a large part of the shelves remains empty. Another problem with the library is the unreliable power supply.

Furnishing

The library has 25 reading rooms, 3 exhibition rooms and 9 conference halls with 1,100 seats each. The building also has modern air conditioning. The library has an electronic catalog designed to facilitate access to library material.
