National Action Group for Economic Defense

The National Action Group for Economic Defense (NAG, French Communauté d'action nationale pour la défense économique des salariés) was a cartel-like association of workers' organizations outside the Swiss Confederation of Trade Unions (SGB) .

history

The NAG was founded in 1932 on the initiative of the Association of Swiss Employees' Associations (VSA) to support measures to overcome the global economic crisis together with like-minded organizations using means of direct democracy .

In 1934 and 1943, the NAG proposed in two drafts for a federal labor law in the commercial sector, among other things, that the Federal Council should establish a federal maternity insurance by ordinance that complied with international regulations ( ILO Convention of 1919 ).

In 1935 he fought together with the SGB, the movement around the weekly newspaper Die Nation , the federal association of the staff of public companies and administrations and the farmers' homeland movement in the voting campaign for the federal popular initiative to combat the economic crisis, also known as the crisis initiative . The CNG accused the NAG of "socialist economic and financial policy" for merging with the SGB and resigned from the NAG.

She was a member of the guidelines movement , a non-partisan organization that was active from 1937 to 1940 to defend against radical anti-democratic parties on the right and left.

In 1950, the NAG was involved in the campaign against the federal financial reform (federal resolution on the constitutional reorganization of the federal financial budget of June 4, 1950), which provided for measures to reorganize federal finances.
