The National Museum of Natural Sciences of Ukraine ( Ukrainian Національний науково-природничий музей / Nazionalnyj naukowo-pryrodnytschyj musej ) is a natural history museum in the Ukrainian capital, Kiev .
Founded in 1966 and opened in 1967, the museum is part of the Academy of Sciences and one of the largest natural science museums in the world. By decision of the President of Ukraine , on December 10, 1996, it was given the status of National Museum .
It consists of five departments: geology and mineralogy, paleontology, zoology, botany and archeology. More than 30,000 exhibits are on display in 24 halls with a total area of 8,000 m².
The museum is open Wednesday to Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The regular admission price is 35 hryvnia per person. The main entrance to the museum is at 15 Bohdan Khmelnytskyi Street in downtown Kiev, in the neoclassical building of the former Olhynska School, built between 1914 and 1927 .
