Ratchaburi National Museum

The Ratchaburi National Museum is one of more than 30 national museums in Thailand .

location

The museum is located in the center of the provincial capital Ratchaburi on Thanon Woradet (Woradet Street) directly on the Mae Nam Mae Klong (Mae Klong River) .

The museum is dedicated to the history, archeology, ethnology and geology of the Ratchaburi Province . It wants to preserve the traditional arts and the culture of the area.

Finds from different eras and artifacts from the history of Ratchaburi are on display. For example, the famous sword Ratchasattra of Monthon Ratchaburi can be seen here, as well as one of the five Buddha statues of the Bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara in the Bayon style of early Khmer art found in Thailand .

history

The museum building was erected in 1922. It used to house the provincial administration. In 1988, the Ratchaburi National Museum was officially opened here.
