Jugyd wa National Park

The Jugyd wa National Park ( Komi and Russian Югыд ва ) is a national park in the Russian Republic of Komi . Until the creation of the Beringia National Park in 2013, it was the largest national park in Russia .

history

The park was founded on April 23, 1994 by the government of the Russian Federation with the aim of protecting the taiga in the northern Urals and opening it up for tourism.

In 1995, the forest areas in which the Jugyd wa National Park is located were declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site of the primeval forests of Komi .
