The Curonian Spit National Park ( Russian: Национа́льный парк Ку́ршская коса́ / Nazionalny park Kurschskaja kossa ) is a national park in Russia .

The area was declared a national park on November 6, 1987 by decision of the Council of Ministers of the RSFSR . Individual parts of the area were already under nature protection while they belonged to Germany ( East Prussia ) and later from January 30, 1950 by resolution of the Council of Ministers of the USSR .

The national park occupies the entire southern part of the Curonian Spit , which belongs to Russia, and covers a total area of ​​6621  hectares . Administratively, the territory is part of the park for Rajon Selenogradsk of Kaliningrad Oblast . The administration of the national park is in the settlement Rybatschi (formerly Rossitten ).

The entire Curonian Spit - the Lithuanian and Russian parts together - has also been under special protection as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2000 .
