Free goods

A free goods discount is a discount that is provided through the delivery of goods. Forms of free goods are free gifts , bonuses and bonuses . A discount in the form of a price reduction is known, however as cash discount or rebate in the form of money.

Bonus

The buyer pays only part of the goods he has purchased . The rest of the goods are free. The bonus is also referred to as an inclusive discount because some of the goods ordered are granted as a discount, i.e. not charged. In the case of free goods including free goods, the quantity of the goods delivered is the same as the quantity ordered.

For twenty cubic meters of gravel, two cubic meters of gravel are free goods. So if you order twenty cubic meters of gravel, twenty cubic meters of gravel will be delivered, but only eighteen will be charged. In this case, you order including free goods.

Extra (arrha)

The buyer pays for the goods he wants and receives additional goods free of charge. The extra is also known as exclusive free goods and means that in addition to the order, free goods are granted for a certain amount of goods. So more goods are delivered than were ordered and the additional delivery is not charged. The bonus corresponds to the product sold.

Encore

Examples
To promote sales of his first book, Kurt Tucholsky opened a book bar on Berlin's Kurfürstendamm in 1912. Every buyer of a book was given a schnapps as an encore.
With twenty cubic meters of gravel, the seller also gives a shovel as a discount in kind. So if the buyer orders twenty cubic meters of gravel, a shovel will be delivered free of charge.

Discount law and allowance regulation

Legally, the addition is regulated as a sign of the conclusion of the contract in § 336 , § 337 and § 338 BGB . These paragraphs are not concerned with the modern form of discount in kind presented above, because the extra is credited to the service owed according to § 337 BGB. Discounts were only possible to a limited extent in Germany until July 24, 2001 due to the discount law and the bonus regulation . Discounts could not exceed 3%. Additions were only allowed to have a low value.
