Natural monument limestone ribs on the northern Hömberg

The natural monument Kalkfelsrippen on the northern Hömberg is located south of Ainkhausen in the urban area of Arnsberg and has a size of 0.17 ha . The area was designated as a natural monument (ND) by the district council of the Hochsauerlandkreis in 1998 with the Arnsberg landscape plan.

These are limestone ribs in the beech forest on the slope of the Hömberg. The rocks are two to four meters high and overgrown with mosses and small farms.

In the ND it is forbidden to plant non-native tree species.

The ND was designated for the conservation of this valuable rock biotope and as a geoscientific object.
