Naum (chess)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Naum is a chess program that was programmed and distributed by Aleksandar Naumov (Canada) from 2003 to 2013.

Initially developed for Palm OS , the program was later ported to personal computers. The programming language is C ++ .

Version 4 was released in December 2008. The commercial distribution took place "engine only" via the website of the programmer. The program supports both UCI and Winboard and can therefore be operated under different graphical interfaces . There are versions for single and multi-processor systems under Microsoft Windows or Linux . Endgame databases with up to five stones are supported.

Between 2009 and 2011, Naum fell back on computer chess rankings due to the appearance of new, very powerful engines, but still held out before several well-known chess programs, for example the CCRL test group.

In 2012, Naumov stopped developing the program. The last version 4.6 was released for free download in September 2014.
