Hügi initially dealt with art painting before starting his career as a comedian around 1962. First he worked as a reprise clown in various circuses and subsequently in variety shows and night clubs.

In 1993 he got an engagement in the Sat 1 game show Halli Galli as one of the main characters. However, the show was discontinued after twelve episodes. In an interview with the website Talkplanet in April 2009, Hügi said that he was taken at the casting after the first glance because he looked so striking. In the show Caution Camera , Hügi worked as a shocker; He took on similar roles for ZDF in Die Spaceboys and on ARD in the show Do you understand fun? . For the station Premiere he wrote the script for a children's series in which he also took on the lead role.
