Navicert

A Navicert is a clearance certificate that confirms that a merchant ship, neutral in a conflict, and its cargo have been searched by a warring party. Ships that were searched and found harmless in the Navicert were given permission to continue their voyage to a neutral port with this document .

The system was first introduced by the British during the First World War.
