Navico is a world leader in marine electronics . The company is known for the brands Lowrance , Simrad and B&G . Other brands that have been bought up are Eagle, MX Marine, Navman and Northstar. Navico was founded in 2005 as a merger of "Simrad Yachting" and "Lowrance Electronics". Around the world, around 2500 employees work in development and production facilities in the USA, Mexico, Great Britain, Norway and New Zealand and in agencies in 100 countries. In particular, radar devices, sea chart plotters, echo sounders and fish finders, GPS devices, AIS transmitters and receivers are manufactured, primarily for the recreational boat sector .

Product lines

Lowrance particularly serves the fishermen's and anglers' market (sidescan echo sounders).

Simrad is aimed more at motor yacht owners (large displays, integration of engine control).

B&G is geared towards the needs of sailors (wind control, regatta software).

1985 - Change of name from Euromarine to Navico , now at Star Lane Margate in Kent UK

2005 - Altor Equity Partners (Altor 2003 Fund) takes over Simrad Yachting AS from the Kongsberg Group

2006-03 - Altor 2003 Fund acquires Lowrance Electronics Inc (brands Lowrance and Eagle )

2006-09 - Navico is created through the merger of Simrad Yachting Inc and Lowrance Electronics Inc

2007 - Navico takes over the marine electronics division of Brunswick New Technologies Inc , and with it the Northstar , Navman (marine) and MX Marine brands .

2008 - Navman's marine division becomes part of the Northstar family of products.

2008 - MX Marine is in Simrad Yachting integrated

2014 Navico takes over the radar division of Consilium AB , as well as the geo-software manufacturer Contour Innovations , as well as MARIS (Maritime Information Systems A / S) from The Grieg Group .

Later part of Navico is taken over by Goldman Sachs . Altor 2003 Fund and Goldman Sachs now share ownership.
