The Kongsberggruppe ( Norwegian Kongsberg groups ) is the largest Norwegian arms company. Other parts of the company manufacture sensors, navigation systems and remote controls for both sea and land use. The most well-known products include the remote-controlled weapon station of the Stryker wheeled tank ( Protector M151 ) and the anti-ship missile Naval Strike Missile .

In addition, subjects sonar and echo sounding devices manufactured.

history

The company goes back to Kongsberg Våpenfabrikk (KV) in 1814. After it was discovered in 1987 that Kongsberg and Toshiba had sold machine tools to the Soviet Union in the 1970s - a violation of the CoCom guidelines at the time - the company was re-established under the name Norsk Forsvarsteknologi (NFT) . The company went public in 1993 and its current name was adopted in 1995.
