ingredients

The main ingredient is the leafy vegetable of the same name, which is also known as bitterleaf or bitter spinach. These are the young leaves of the Gymnanthemum amygdalinum (Delile) Sch.Bip. ex Walp, who belongs to the Vernonieae tribe . It is prepared similar to spinach and has a slightly bitter taste. Other common ingredients include fresh, ground peanuts, garlic, onions, ginger, meat, and dried shrimp. However, many variations are possible. The whole thing is cooked like a stew .
