Nea (also Néa, Neah, Nean or Neea) is a short form of first names in -nea, especially the first name Linnea , but is also used as an independent first name . The first name is mainly common in Sweden and Finland and was rare until 2011.

Origin and meaning

Nea is often seen as the short form of Linnea, but is also used as a short form of Antinea, Janea, Minea, Phinea and other given names ending in -nea.

distribution

Germany. In Germany, the first name Nea has been in use since 1990 and is one of the very rare first names.

Finland. From 1900 to the end of 2011 there were and are about 6,500 women named Nea and 2,500 named Neea in Finland. In the first decade of the 21st century, 1% and 0.5% of the female population had the first name Nea and Neea, respectively.

Sweden. As an independent first name, Nea was one of the very rare first names from 2001 to 2011 (an average of 36 newborns per year with an upward trend). By the end of 2011, 651 women had the first name Nea.
