The Nebula Device is an open-source - game engine , mainly by the Berlin firm Radon Labs develops and under the MIT license is provided. It runs on Windows , Linux , IRIX , macOS and Xbox .

- Animation system
- Resource management

- various auxiliary classes, e.g. for network.
- various tools such as a texture viewer and model viewer.
The Nebula Device is used for various commercial projects.
Version 3 of the Nebula Engine is currently under development. Parts of version 3 were also built into version 2. This intermediate version is used in the role-playing game Das Schwarze Auge: Drakensang .
Nebula 3
Nebula 3 is a completely revised, (partially) rewritten version of Nebula 2. Since Nebula 3 is not only being developed for the PC , but also for game consoles (PS3, WII, XBox 360, and others), licensing problems would arise the developers publish the console-specific code. Thus the open source code of Nebula 3 is only intended for the PC.
Nebula 3 was used for the development of the role-playing game Drakensang: On the River of Time . In the game Drakensang Online , a version of the Nebula engine specially adapted for MMORPGs is used.
