Arroyo de la Luz necropolis
The necropolis of Arroyo de la Luz ( Spanish Necrópolis visigoda de Arroyo de la Luz ) is located in the granite rocks of the Dehesa de La Luz, north of Arroyo de la Luz , west of Cáceres in the province of Cáceres in Extremadura in Spain .
About 500 meters from the Nuestra Señora de Luz Hermitage lies the small, multi-part necropolis from the late Roman and Visigothic times of the 4th to 7th centuries, dated by its grave goods, ceramics and coin finds. The rock tombs of the necropolis consist of two main groups, the first of which consists of eight east-west oriented anthropomorphic specimens.
A little to the south is a group of four anthropomorphic graves. While two follow the usual east-west orientation, the others are south-north oriented. One is near the Dua's pond. To the west is a normal grave next to the square base of an oil press.
All graves that are close to the ground in a granite outcrop belong to adults. Since no shape has been dug around them to elevate them, rainwater can fill them. There are no traces of the covers that covered them. Foundations of oil or grape presses can be seen in the granite rocks that surround the graves.
