Scheme Cuevas artificiale

The more severely damaged necropolis of Son Sunyer on the Spanish Balearic island of Mallorca is located near Es Pillari east of the airport . The eight, in Spanish Cuevas artificiales or Cuevas sepulcrales , artificial caves are one of the largest collections of Bronze Age caves from the navetiform era (1600–1200 BC).

The necropolis is located on a slope covered by vegetation. It consists of six closely spaced caves, two more, including the spectacular number 8, are closer to the road.

The hill was used as a sandstone quarry, so many caves have been damaged. The caves are of various shapes. There are simple apsidal cavities and complex shapes with an antechamber, camera, side niches and a bank altar . The preserved part of the necropolis yielded finds of eight skulls and some of the grave goods .
