Neodamodeis ( Greek νεοδαμώδεις neodamṓdeis , German 'new citizens' ) was an estate in ancient Sparta , which was formed from released helots . Those who had risen to Neodamodeis were subject to the Spartan discipline and, like the Periöks , could be used for military service. The Neodamodeis lived outside the city of Sparta and were not full citizens. Due to the stagnating population of the Spartan upper class, the Spartians , they played an increasing role in the Spartan military .

The so-called "Brazilian eggs", helots released under the general Brasidas , are often also counted among the Neo-fashionable .
