Stefan Link (born April 11, 1961 in Lemgo ) is a German ancient historian and has been an adjunct professor of ancient history at the University of Paderborn since 2004 .

After studying at the Universities of Heidelberg and Hamburg , he received his doctorate in 1988 under Joachim Molthagen in Hamburg on the privilege of Roman veterans and completed his habilitation in 1991 in Paderborn on land distribution and social peace in archaic Greece.

His research interests are Greek legal history, the agricultural history of the archaic period, the history of Sparta , the history of Greek Crete , Greek sexual history and gender history as well as Greek historiography. He also works on everyday Roman life during the imperial era and on Christianity in Roman society.

He is the author of monographs and articles on these topics, including a. The Greek Crete (1994), The Sparta Cosmos (1994) and The Early Sparta (2000). In addition, since the 11th edition he has taken over the editing of the Dictionary of Antiquity (2002).
