Neonatology is a scientific journal published by S. Karger- Verlag. The journal publishes papers on the pediatric area of neonatology . It was founded in 1958 under the name Biologia Neonatorum . In 1970 its name was changed to Biology of the Neonate and in 2006 to the current one. The magazine appears eight issues a year.

The impact factor in 2014 was 2.649. According to the statistics of the ISI Web of Knowledge , the journal with this impact factor ranks 22nd out of 119 journals in the pediatric category.

The current editors-in-chief of the magazine are Henry L. Halliday (from Queen's University Belfast ) and Christian P. Speer (from the University of Würzburg ). The former editors-in-chief of the magazine were the French pediatricians and neonatologists Alexandre Minkowski (from 1959 to 1985) and Jean-Pierre Relier (from 1986 to 2003).
