Nerd Nite is an event format in which three speakers each give a 15-minute lecture on a topic that they deal with intensively.
history
In Boston, the inventor of the nerd nite always went to his local pub. After being absent for three months, he was asked what he was doing during that time. He brought a laptop and projector and reported on his research trip. This report was so well received that it should be repeated. This is how the nerd nite was born.
In the USA, the events that take place at regular intervals in public places such as a bar or pub are already widespread. Patrick Gruban, Chief Software Architect at Fidor TecS AG, brought the concept to Germany in July 2009. Since then, regular evening meetings have taken place in more and more cities, offering enthusiastic interested parties an alternative to parties or the cinema, usually for a small surcharge.

Procedure of a nerdnite
Location
A nerd nite usually takes place in a bar atmosphere. I.e. the audience can still learn something during normal pub visits. In the meantime, however, compromises are often made, since ideally the audience should all have a clear view of the speaker and should not sit with their backs to the speaker.
Lectures
A typical nerd nite has three presentations, each lasting 15 minutes, and a question and answer session after each presentation. The speakers are free to choose how the lecture is organized.
subjects
In addition to the typical technical topics, all topics that are off the mainstream are accepted, provided the speaker has dealt with them intensively. Many topics have a scientific background.
