Medial antebrachial cutaneous nerve

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The medial cutaneus antebrachii nerve is a purely sensitive nerve that supplies the skin of the forearm on the side of the elbow . In humans, it arises as an independent nerve directly from the lower arm nerve plexus ( brachial plexus ) (nerve roots C8 and Th1). In most other mammals , it is a branch ( cutaneous branch) of the musculocutaneous nerve .

Since the nerve has no motor functions, it is important as a transplant donor .

The most common defects in humans arise in the context of venous punctures in the elbow (for example, for the purpose of blood donation ) or when injecting of toxic drugs to the tissue adjacent the vein.
