Neschan trilogy

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Neschan trilogy is a saga by Ralf Isau that he wrote to please his daughter. The Thienemann Verlag made it one of his greatest successes.

content

In the beginning, the Neschan trilogy is about two worlds:

  • The fantastic world of Neschan, which in some aspects is modeled on the "earthly" Middle Ages . Yonathan lives in this world.
  • The interwar earth where a boy named Jonathan Jabbok lives. He lives in a wheelchair and has hardly any contact with his environment. At night, however, he has more and more dreams that he can still clearly remember after waking up. These dreams revolve around the world of Neschan and Yonathan.

The lives of the two become increasingly intertwined when the deeply religious Yonathan receives a sacred commission from the Neschan god Yewoh. He is supposed to take the holy rod Hashevet to a distant place. On this adventurous journey, Yonathan will get to know new companions, finally meet his dream brother Jonathan and fulfill a prophecy that is thousands of years old and bring about the baptism of the world in the world of Neschan.

About the work

Ralf Isau deals heavily with the topic of religion in the three books. A religion specially devised for the Neschan side world reflects our code of conduct. The divine powers of the fantastic world of Neschan interact strongly with the people there. In addition, the book revolves around the topics of conflict, friendship and “perfect love”.

The books are (like many of Isau's works) “phantagons”, ie books in which each reader sees a different mixture of different topics or genres.
