Network Operations Center

Network Operations Center

A Network Operations Center (NOC) provides central operational support for a network. The network can in particular be a computer network, a telecommunications network or a sub-network.

In the case of a computer network, the NOC is used to guarantee IT security ; it provides centralized continuous monitoring of the activities of the firewall , IDS and antivirus programs , as well as the identification of critical weak points. Because managing network security is a time and manpower activity, companies often prefer to outsource the service to other companies that specialize in information security.
