Network media libraries
Network Mediatheken is an amalgamation of nationally important archives , libraries , documentation centers , media libraries , research institutions and museums in Germany .
The aim is to make the audiovisual media of the participating institutions a cultural asset
- to secure
- to preserve,
- to tap and
- to make it accessible for education , science , research , teaching and art .
The network was founded in November 2000 on the initiative of the German Broadcasting Archive Foundation and the House of History Foundation of the Federal Republic of Germany . 13 institutions were among the founding members. In September 2001 the Foundation House of History of the Federal Republic of Germany took over the management of the project in April 2009, the Deutsche Kinemathek . 55 institutions are now participating in the network.
The network organizes an annual meeting and also offers other forms of professional exchange, for example via a mailing list.
The managing director of the network is Peter Paul Kubitz, who is also the television program director of the Deutsche Kinemathek .
