New Berlin spaces

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

New Berlin Spaces (NBR) is a project space without a fixed location in Berlin .

Activity and history

The exhibition program does not take place in a fixed exhibition space, but in constantly changing locations. The working practice of Neue Berliner Raum is based on an expanded concept of space, in which the focus is primarily on unusual and special places - site-specific installations are the focus of the program. The initiative was founded in 2011 and has been run as a non-profit association NBR - Neue Berliner Raum eV since 2015 .

The exhibition activities of Neue Berliner Raum concentrate on the one hand on historically significant locations such as the Postfuhramt Mitte , the Animal Anatomical Theater of the Humboldt University , the New Marstall on Schlossplatz and Tempelhof Airport , and on the other hand also on places in public space.

Individual exhibitions were u. a. represented in the programs of the International Literature Festival Berlin (2012), the Project Space Festival (2014) and in the supporting program of Berlin Art Week (2012, 2016). The curatorial projects are usually created in close cooperation with various partners and institutions, such as B. C / O Berlin and the Hermann von Helmholtz Center for Cultural Technology .

In 2016 Neue Berliner Raum received the "Award for Artistic Project Spaces and Initiatives" from the Senate Chancellery for Cultural Affairs of the City of Berlin.
