Neuenbrook West 29

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The farm in Neuenbrook West 29 in the community of Neuenbrook is proven to be the oldest farm in the entire Kremper and Kollmarer Marsch.

Discovery and Consequences

Until 2015 it was assumed that the still inhabited courtyard was built in 1690. When it was to be checked whether the courtyard should continue to be classified as a historical monument , a dendrochronological examination of the oak beams revealed that the courtyard was built in 1560.

It is a mystery why the farm is still there, since the rest of Neuenbrook West was all burned down during the Thirty Years War . The courtyard may have served as soldiers' quarters during the war.

As a result of this finding, an information board was attached to the facade.
