Neuengeseker Heide

Neuengeseker Heide is a neighboring town of Neuengeseke . The place belongs to the municipality of Bad Sassendorf , so it has the postcode 59505. Nowadays almost 100 people live on the Neuengeseker Heide.

The history of the place goes back to the early 17th century when farmers from the district and Hanseatic town of Soest settled there. Thanks to the fertile soil of the Soest Börde , they always had a good harvest and the village grew to have up to 500 residents by the 19th century. The Neuengeseker Heide also suffered from the onset of industrialization and rural exodus. The number of inhabitants decreased steadily and since 1990 has stabilized around a value of 100 inhabitants.
