New England Anti-Slavery Society

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The New-England Anti-Slavery Society was a society founded in November 1831 by William Lloyd Garrison for the abolition of slavery in the United States . The formation of this company was also in response to the slave revolt of Nat Turner in August the same year.

The abolitionist movement condemned slavery as immoral and unchristian. On December 3, 1833, the New England Anti-Slavery Society went with other similar groups in the American Anti-Slavery Society , which was founded next to Garrison by Theodor Weld and Arthur and Lewis Tappan.
