Central organ of state power

A central organ of state power in the German Democratic Republic (GDR) was an institution whose factual, personal and functional competence extended to the entire state territory.

  • the ministries
  • the State Secretariats
  • central offices u. a.

In accordance with the prevailing doctrine of state rule in the GDR (i.e. democratic centralism ), the local organs of state power were bound by the decisions of the central organs in the form of their statutory provisions.
